Testimony

I’ve never been very good with words, but I don’t think any of us are when it comes to explaining how awesome our God really is. It's impossible to explain, but I hope by sharing with you all how I got to where I am with God now, that I can inspire you to read His word, join a church, or just simply start praying to the Lord for guidance; anything to get your own relationship with him and experience this awesome feeling of having the Lord in your heart.

Well, I was not brought up in a Christian family like many people in churches today. So, I had a major disadvantage over them but for some unexplainable reason the Lord himself led me to Him. And for that, alone I owe him so much.

My dad was always a believer and he read me Bible stories from a children's book every night before bed, and when we finished the whole book, we’d start it over again.  However, my father never went to church and was not saved. He was actually a Jehovah Witness but again not a practicing one. And for a short time when I was 9 or 10 I went to Sunday school with my aunt and cousin and even got saved at a summer church camp at their church. But they soon stopped going. So again, I had little religious background.

Even though my dad did not go to church, or live the way he should have; he instilled in me what faith I did have. I prayed every night before I went to bed. Even after my Dad died when I was 11. But as I became a teenager and got into high school, I prayed less and less. And by the time I was a senior I had lost almost all faith, I even one night stood and testified against the Lords existence to some guys that my friends and I met who were standing up for His existence. And of course, during this period of time I was doing many things I shouldn’t have been.

It still amazes me today that even though I done all those horrible things to the Lord and said many bad things about Him, that he still took me back. One day I was driving home and the feeling just came out of nowhere, but I knew I wanted to go to church. So I texted my boyfriend (Justin) and asked him how he would feel about going to church. And to my surprise he said “I thought you’d never ask," He said he had been waiting and hoping I would ask him and he had been feeling the same way. This was again very surprising to me because Justin and I were both living our lives the wrong way and he had never said anything about religion, or God before. So anyways, Justin then asked what church we should go to. And although we live way out in Boyd County and I knew, it was a thirty-minute drive I said well I think we should go with my brother (Ryan) to his church. I had went 2 years before this on Easter with Ryan and to be honest didn’t like the whole church scene and decided not to go anymore. But something (or should I say someone) just told me to give it one last try.

And friend from the very first time I went to Campbell Chapel all my years of doubts just melted away. I knew there was a God in heaven who had led me there. I could feel his presence all around me so there was No more reason to doubt him. He was and is alive.

So today, if you’re reading this and you are living in doubt. Just go to church its only 2 hours that could change your life (and your eternity) forever, It’s very much worth the time I promise. You have to keep an open mind that was why it took me so long. Don’t wait you never know when today could be your last.
