Caring Basket Ministry
Amy McCarty and Kati Bevins

"Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest."  (John 4:35)

Our goal with our caring baskets is to teach those who are living without the Lord in their life, and to let them know we care and are praying for them.  We know at some point in time and maybe even right now, we all have needed to know that someone cared and was praying for us.

We give these baskets to those who the Lord lays on our heart.

Our Baskets contain several items that will point them to Christ in some way.  These items include, but are not limited to:  A Bible, Books, Candles, Candy, Bookmark, Various other items as we are always adding something different.  Most importantly, these Baskets contain our Love and Prayers.

The following comes from a bookmark that we placed in each basket:

As each day draws to a close
And you settle down to sleep.
Please know:  You have been in our
thoughts throughout the day and now,
as we too end our day, we off you up
once more to God.  And when tomorrow
comes, our prayers will continue to be with you!

As a branch of Caring Baskets, we greet each new visitor with a book, ink pen and bookmark.  They also fill out a visitor's card so that our church can stay in contact with them.

We want everyone to feel at home when they visit with us.  We Love to have them come!

UPDATED 9/15/06

In July, we began taking Bibles and snacks to the Veteran's Hospital in Huntington, WV.  Adding this to the basket ministry has been a true blessing to us, and we hope to them also.  Many times our veterans feel forgotten and down.  This is a way that our church can reach out to them and show them that we care, but most of all that we have a most compassionate and caring Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; and that they can have hope in this world filled with hatred and troubled times.

Please continue to pray for our active military and those who have served.  Let us not forget the sacrifices they have made to protect our freedoms.

Baskets continue to be given to those who are unsaved or backslidden.  The purpose of each basket is to let people know that we care about them, and we want to see each one saved or rededicated.

It is our duty as Christians to bear witness of the things the Lord has done for us.  Take the time to pray and ask the Lord for the opportunity to witness to someone.  You will find that, in turn, that will be a blessing to you.
